The Birth of Doula Spot: An Interview with Erica Falk

From my experience, both as a woman and as a doula, much of the magic of our bodies has to with passion and intuition. During a birth, intuition guides us through the many stages of labor up to the moment when baby is finally in our arms.  Passion (besides being the driving force behind pregnancy to begin with) is what gives us the strength to go through such a physical and emotional rollercoaster. Both passion and intuition guide us towards what is natural for us and our bodies. You cannot be a good doula, a good lover, or a good mother without opening your heart and trusting in yourself.

Intuition and passion are the two emotions I felt when I was first introduced to Erica Falk.  We began chatting, and before I knew it  over an hour had passed with no lapse in conversation. I felt like I had known her for years. We talked about our lives, our careers, our experiences with birth, and about our dreams. By the end of the conversation I knew I had to be a part of what she was building. I believed that she was creating something sacred and powerful, and that I could use my talents to help it thrive. Within the week I was given the title of “editor” for Doula Spot, and was hard at work helping to bring this dream to fruition.

Our dream is becoming a reality, and to celebrate the launch of our premier blog post, I asked Erica if I could interview her, I knew that her words would help to set the tone for the rest of the articles and information released on Doula Spot. I hope you are as inspired as I was by the passion and intuitiveness she has towards bringing peace of mind back to birth.
